I met Chris Staton at Summer NAMM 2018. He walked up, introduced himself, and the conversation quickly turned to amps (who knew?). He’d heard some buzz about the Down Brownie and asked me if I had considered working with a dealer. We agreed to try it on a couple of amps and see how things went. Well, that was a few amps ago, and it’s been a real pleasure working with Chris. Proud to have The Amp House as our first dealer!
I’ve been a fan of this uber cool shop in downtown Seattle for a few years now. Proprietors Jay and Trevor Boone always seem to have the coolest vintage pieces, not to mention killer new and pre-owned gear. I mean, how many shops will have five 1958/59/60 Bursts to choose from? I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jay on a couple of Down Brownies now, and hope to see this relationship continue. Be sure to check out their YouTube Channel; their “Pick of the Day” episodes are just plain addictive. Be sure to check out the one where Jay demos the Down Brownie with a 1952/57 Goldtop conversion!
I first heard of Clif Jones’ shop after seeing it profiled on the Tim Pierce Guitar YouTube channel. After visiting their website, I thought they might be a good fit for a SoCal dealer. After visiting with Clif on the phone, we agreed I’d drop in while I was down to see the Rolling Stones, which was only a couple of weeks away. This is one seriously cool shop; lots a high-end boutique gear that you don’t see in the wild everyday. We agreed to work together on a couple of amps, and I’m excited to see where things take us from there. If you’re in the LA area, be sure to stop by and say hi to Clif, Joe and Sam.
These guys always have the coolest gear in town here in the Spokane, WA/Coeur d’Alene area. They’ve been a great friend to us here at Cutthroat Audio and we appreciate it! Bobby and his sage Tom are always ready with a smile and a warm hello. Not to mention they are a couple of genuinely funny (and yes, knowledgeable) guys. Next time you’e in the Inland Northwest, be sure to put RCG on your list.
There are some legendary guitar shops in Nashville for sure. Top of the list for me has to be Rumble Seat Music. Eliot Michael and his crew really know how to make you feel right at home. Heck, they’d probably even let you play Stairway to Heaven! I recently had the pleasure of visiting the shop to deliver a few amps. So thrilled to have a Cutthroat presence in the Music City! Next time you find yourself in Nashville, be sure to stop in; you can thank me later!
Sammy’s a well-known bluesman up here in the beautiful Northwest. If you’re ever in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area, don’t miss the chance to check out his band. He’s a talented player, gifted tunesmith and has a set of pipes that never fails to impress. An early adopter of our instrument and patch cables, I’m proud to call him a friend. Be sure to check out his new album Sugar Me at the iTunes Store.
The World Famous Jim Gibson is a talented singer/songwriter/player that never disappoints. Based in my hometown of San Diego, Jim is another early adopter of Cutthroat’s cables. And did I mention he’s witty, too? His 2nd album Storm Warning is just…well…fantastic! I really miss this guy; if you see him, give him a hug for me. Love you man!
I bought my 2007 Yamano Murphy Aged R9 Les Paul from Ray Mauldin a couple of years ago. What a fantastic experience! Ray and his partner Lee Jackson are in the “good guys” category when it comes to purveyors of fine, pre-owned gits and amps. They also write some of the funniest ad copy you’ll ever read…
